In The Art of Happiness in a Troubled World, the Dalai Lama notes that the reason that rape, theft, and murder are newsworthy is that 99% of people, 99% of the time, are not committing these violent acts.
Instead, most people are caring for their families, waving hello to their neighbors, and holding the door open for one another.
Sometimes we need to widen our scope to see the whole picture.
